Researching further, I found my only option pretty much was using the Genetic Modification 2 Editors Mod to use the creature editor in later stages. I successfully installed Dark Injection v9, and while I enjoyed all the additions to the game, I was a bit disappointed with the fact that you have to add Darkspore parts in the creature creator, which is unavailable after creature stage when actually playing through the game from the early stages. Prior to this, I installed the most recent patches, including the robot parts.
